I am tired of being the second choice.
There is no doubt that they love me
but that’s not the same as being first.
Hello my Zebras and Spoonies! Thanks for coming and hanging out with me today, I’m glad that you are here. Today I’m just going to be talking about how things have been going in my life.
I have been struggling over the past couple of weeks. I mean, the struggle has been there for years, really. But there are easier and harder times. This has been a harder time. Life is presenting me with a great deal of uncertainty and I have gotten better at dealing with that, but it is still difficult for me. It is uncomfortable to find myself again in this limbo of asking myself what I should be doing next. Seems I have been asking that question a lot lately and haven’t really discovered a good answer yet.

Today I am going to be talking about willpower and how it is just another one of the metaphorical spoons that we carry around. Well, we probably get more then one, but you get the idea. Generally speaking, willpower is the “control exerted to do something or restrain impulses.” [Oxford Languages] In many ways, this is a defining feature of humanity. It is something that we are much more capable of then other animals, yet most people will report that they feel they lack adequate willpower.

For reasons that I am all too familiar with, the knee jerk response to getting a referral to a therapist is that we are being dismissed. However, that might not be the case and there is research to support the use of therapy for those with chronic illness. So, let’s get it into!
