Ensure Max

Hello my Zebras and Spoonies! Thanks for coming and hanging out with me today, I’m glad that you are here. Today I am going to be talking about my supplement of choice: Ensure Max Protein. When you have a chronic illness, it can be hard to tolerate eating. There are times that you just have to do what you can to get some calories and nutrients on board. This is my supplement drink of choice.

I think it is one of the best tasting supplemental drinks out there. I’m not a fan of all the flavors. I specifically drink the café mocha. But I tend to be a person that likes just the one kind of a thing. So, there’s that. I like that this has 30 grams of protein which is a really go amount and that it has 1.5 grams of fat which is decent. I also like that it has 25% of the daily requirement for a bunch of nutrients (25 vitamins and minerals). Most protein shakes don’t have any of the vitamins or minerals in them and many don’t have as much protein.

The down side for me is that it is only 150 calories. I really should be getting 300 calories for a meal which means 2 of these and that’s harder for my stomach to tolerate. So, it really isn’t a meal replacement. It is supposed to be a supplement which means that it is supposed to be in addition to foods that you are eating. That being said, this is a great way to get the nutrients in when the stomach isn’t tolerating much. Because sometimes it is just easier to take in liquids then solid foods.

There are days that this is the only thing that I can keep down. And that’s far from ideal, but it is also way better then having nothing. Slowly sipping on one of these is usually pretty doable.

What about you guys? What supplemental or meal replacement drink do you find tastes reasonable, sits well and has a good balance of stuff in it? I’d love to hear what others have found to be helpful!

Well, that’s about it for my rambling today. Thanks for coming and spending some time with me. If you like what you read, click on that like button. It really does help! Until we talk again, you take care of yourselves!
