Hello my Zebras and Spoonies! Thanks for coming and visiting with me today, I am glad that you are here. Today, I want to talk about why our nurses are leaving and why we can’t attract new nurses into the field.
There have been problems plaguing the healthcare system for the entire twenty years that I have been working as a nurse and for the years that I worked as a CNA before that. Covid has made many of those problems worse, but none of them are new. But we are reaching the point where changes have to be made soon or things are going to start falling apart. One of the biggest problems that our healthcare system faces is that we don’t have enough nurses. If we don’t address this problem soon there simply will be no one available to take care of the sick, injured and dying in this country.
What needs to happen in order to retain the nurses that we have and recruit new nurses? We need better incentives to work in the healthcare setting. The work environment in healthcare right now in beyond toxic. The environment is unsafe. The staff working in healthcare are not properly supported or care for.

Hello my Zebras and Spoonies! Thanks for coming and visiting with me today. I’m glad that you’re here.
Just wanted to check in today and talk about how things have been going with my life. I am recovering from an upper respiratory infection and am in the middle of an interstitial cystitis (IC) flare. So, I have been feeling less than awesome as of late with the expectation that my bladder will continue to feel angry for a while yet. Because I have not been feeling well, my sleep has been more unstable which just makes things more difficult for me. This has also greatly effected my diet which also has a major impact on how I am feeling.

Hello my Zebras and Spoonies! Thanks for coming and visiting me today, I’m glad that you are here.
Today is actually a holiday. Admittedly, one that most people have never heard of and one that few people celebrate. Today is the Festival of Sleep Day. It is also National Straw Drinking Day, Weigh-In Day, National Chocolate Covered Cherry Day, and Humiliation Day. There are a lot of strange, little know holidays out there that few people know about or celebrate. I’ve decided that I will be highlighting some of the ones that I think are fun or that highlight important issues. If you’d like to know more about these strange little holidays, you can go to Days of the Year or Holiday Insights. Because the strange fact of the matter is that there is a holiday on every day of the year and on most days, there is actually more then one.

Hello my Zebras and Spoonies! Thanks for coming and hanging out with me today. I’m glad that you’re here.
I’m sure that you’ve noticed that the past week there has been an lack of posting on all my online locations. I simply have not had the spoons. I’ve decided to write an update today to explain the reason for the lacking of spoons and then I’m going to try to get some things into the cue for my various sites so that there will be fewer crickets.

Music is a core part of all of humanity. Every culture across the globe has some kind of music. All of humanity: we sing and we dance and we make musical instruments. We do this by ourselves. We do this as groups. We do this in times of celebration. We do this in times of stress. We have been making music for as long as we have been documenting history and evidence suggests that we have been doing the making of music before we have been writing. So this suggests that there’s something really essential, profound and powerful about music, which is why so many people research it, because we ask this question of “why music?” What is it about music, that’s so important that every human being on the planet, engages with music, on some level? Whether you are a performer or you’re just somebody who is listening. Whether you’re singing in the shower or tapping on the table to a song in your head. We all engage in the creation and listening and sharing of music. Why is that?

One of the things about ADHD that many people don’t know about is “the wall.” Well, that’s what I call it anyway. I go on screech for endless days and seem full of an eternal amount of mental energy. Until I’m not. And it comes sudden. I just hit this wall and then all I want to do is curl up in a hole and hide from the world. This cloud of apathy swallows me up and I find it a struggle to get just the every day things done. A deep, aching brain fatigue washes over me. For some reason, the world doesn’t recognize “the wall” as a valid reason for an impromptu vacation from life for a few days so I have to continue to slog through and it completely sucks.

Hello my Zebras and Spoonies. Thank you for coming over and hanging out with me for a little while. I am really glad that you are here.
Something that we don’t tend to think of as a stressor in our lives is our life transitions. These are the times in our lives that we are having a role shift or a major change in the way that we are living. Some examples of these are marriage, the birth of a child, retiring, the death of a significant person in our life, a disabling accident, or having a chronic illness that develops to the point of disabling us, getting a new job, traveling to a new location, a new place of living, getting a new house or a new apartment, getting divorced, graduating from school (high school or college), empty nest syndrome, and many others. All of these are times in our lives where we change the roles that we’re playing. With that comes a shift in our identity and how we see ourselves.

The last few days have been difficult, high pain days. Had a dystonic storm on Saturday, which was an unexpected work out. In order to stop the storm, I had to take a high dose of benadryl which kicked my butt. Have been resting and trying to let my body recover.
I haven’t been eating as well as I should and it has resulted in exacerbation of my symptoms. The stress of all that has been going on is also a factor. But I have more control over my diet then the stress. I do what I can to manage the stress levels, but there is only so much I can do in that department. However, I have control over my diet. So, I need to eat better.
