Starting My Day

Daily writing prompt
What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

Hello Dazzle! Thanks for coming and hanging out with me today, I’m glad that you are here. Today I want to talk to you about mornings. I’ve never been a morning person. I’ve never been the kind of person that wanted to start my day out early. I’d much rather stay up late and sleep through most of the day.

Like everyone else, I have a getting up and getting going routine. But I’ve never had one that took me an hour. I think this is because I’ve always been a sleep until the last possible minute kind of person. I’m the kind of person that sets the alarm for about a half hour before I have to leave. If I set it earlier than that I’m not going to get out of bed anyway. I will just look at the clock and tell myself how I have plenty of time then go back to sleep. The result of that is that I over sleep and end up being late to what ever the thing was. So, I wake myself up at the last minute.

Going to the bathroom is always the first business of the day. I think that’s true for about everyone. Then I take my medications and eat a small bit of something. I don’t eat anything heavy or a large amount. My stomach never really wants food when I first get up, but I need there to be something on my stomach with my medication. This is the reason that I often have an ensure. It is easy, quick and doesn’t make my stomach complain but is enough to keep the medications settled most of the time.

Then I get dressed. Depending on what I’m doing depends on what I have to do next. If I am going somewhere I will pack up a bag and make sure that it has everything that I will need while I am out. Depending on how long I plan on being away from the house this can be just my wallet and phone or it could be a rather long list of things. I have a schedule of medications and food intake that I have to stick to regardless of where I’m at. That often means bringing those things along with me. I don’t like counting on getting food where I am going because I never know if there will be safe foods there. This means I always pack food if I plan on being out for a meal time.

That’s about it. I’ve never have much of a morning or bedtime routine. I have always found it interesting the way that other people spend a great deal of time getting ready for the day or settling into bed. In theory, a good bed time routine will help you sleep better, but I never found that it helped me. These kinds of routines never really stuck either. They always felt awkward and forced.

Well, that’s about it for my rambling today. Thanks for coming and spending some time with me. If you like what you read, click on that like button. It really does help! Until we talk again, you take care of yourselves!
